ORANGE LUSH: HAPPY QUEENS DAY!

For our friends in the Netherlands (where we have one of our global Shoes of Prey offices) it's Koninginnedag (translation: Queen's Day) today! We're celebrating with them featuring materials and shoes in their national colour, orange.

Queen's Day is a national holiday celebrated on 30 April. It famous for its nationwide flea market, the free concerts and plethora of orange outfits. It was first celebrated on 31 August 1885 as Princess's Day, the fifth birthday of Princess Wilhelmina, heiress to the Dutch throne. On her accession, the holiday acquired its present name, Koninginnedag. Following the accession of Wilhelmina's daughter Queen Juliana in 1948, the holiday was moved to her birthday. Her daughter, Beatrix retained the celebration on 30 April after she took the throne in 1980.

So, now you know the history, here are the shoes!

Orange snakeskin in sky-high stilettos give us a sophisticated option for Queen's Day. But if the height is too much to walk through the festivals and flea market, then you could opt for a lower stiletto heel with a Mary Jane strap.

However you wear orange today, have a fantastic Queen's Day!
