STYLING: WHAT TO WEAR TO A PRESS EVENT?!?

Ok, a fast call out... I'm co-hosting a press event tomorrow with a lot of magazine editors and I'm not totally sure what to wear - classic? or more causal, on-trend? It's *really* hot in Sydney at the moment, so I have picked two of options that are a little looser-fitting - I don't want anything sticking to me.

Option 1 is a drapey black short dress, belted, with nude and midnight patent leather brogues. I picked this to be a bit sophisticated and classic...

Option 2 is tailored blue trousers (I love this colour blue) with an oatmeal coloured loose singlet with nude patent leather heels. I picked this as a more casual/on trend option...

What do you think? does either outfit work? which direction is better, classic or casual on-trend? Any other ideas? all are gratefully accepted :) I am leaning towards the black dress a little and I am about to go through my wardrobe *again* ... at least I have the blow dry, pedicure and makeup under control... so long as I nail the outfit... eeek...
