
Recently on our facebook page I was asked to post an image of red patent leather, zebra print hair and red soft leather all together. I must admit that my initial sense was that it might be a 1980s throwback but when we laid the swatches side-by-side they looked fantastic.
I think that there is probably still a trick or two to designing with this combination so that they look more Manolo than Miami Vice. For me it's confident use of the print so that you can see the full design of the print in larger sections, and being cautious with the shape of shoe chosen. For example:
Covering the heel of a high wedge:

Making it the primary material on a ballet flat:

I personally think that there is a good argument for zebra print being the new leopard print. Would you wear it? How?
