'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo', the first in Steg Larson's trilogy of gripping novels has recently been released as an English film, following the success of it's Swedish predecessors. The books have now sold 63 million copies in over 41 countries - are you part of the 63 million too?

Chic, statuesque Rooney Mara plays Lisbeth Salander and by all accounts is destined for a sparkling career. To me her look is reminiscent of the equally statuesque Australian superstar Cate Blanchett and it seems that she also has a taste for haute couture!

The lead image to this post captures the detail of Mara's world premier dress in London. A whimsical and ultra-feminine contrast to the remaining premier outfits you'll see below, we're sad to say this floor length gown didn't expose the shoes chosen for the occasion, so I used my imagination and thought they'd have to be something like this, given the style of dress and very classic shoe choices Mara makes:

In stark contrast, take a look at the edgy black dress with tulle overlay Rooney wore to the New York premiere. Simple shoes ensued for this pared-back modern chic.

Mara stayed with the same edgy look in Berlin and simple shoes yet again in glossy black patent leather:

Simple and edgy seems to be the order of the day. What shoes would you have put with these outfits? And, what did you think of the film?
