Meet Micah, one of our fabulous Shoes of Prey customers.
Micah works at music label Inertia, is a radio producer for FBI Radio and DJs in her spare time. When we met Micah we just fell in love with her very cool feminine style, that lends from many iconic trends including 1950’s pin-up girls. We love her perfectly curled fringe and polka dot tie-front top completed with her 3 inch chunky heel Mary Janes. As a woman in the music industry, we asked Micah a few questions about her creative day-to-day life.
How did you get into the music industry?
I started out volunteering at the youth radio station FBI 94.5FM, doing “arts & culture drops”. These are 2-3 minute radio pieces covering interviews with local emerging artists including designers, photographers, and musicians. I moved on to become a producer on a peak time radio show, which I have now been doing for 4 years. Over my time at FBI and Inertia I have been exposed to so much great music that DJ'ing felt like the next fun venture.
What is your favorite part of being a DJ?
I love putting together tracks for a party and creating little mix tapes. Choosing the tunes is also fun, especially ones you know that will get people on the dance floor.
Tell me about your personal style?
I dress for my height! I wear above the knee skirts and it’s a little bit 50’s, although I don’t stay in that one genre. I mix a lot of old and new pieces together in my wardrobe. One thing I am very definite about is that my clothes cannot be a chore. They have to be easy to put on and comfortable to wear.
Tell me about your shoe design you’re wearing today?
The shoes I designed look similar to a pair I had seen, but I couldn’t get in my size (I’m a European 32!) so they are my own version of them. I love wearing these shoes with dark stockings as it gets colder and just bare legs in Summer. The colour really goes with everything - I have worn them with jeans all the way through to a wedding. I received so many compliments - it’s great when people compliment you on your personal style.
