Patent leather is the wonder child of the leather world. It’s polished, practical and pretty – and that means it’s perfect to take you from the office to after-work drinks to weekend outings.
1. It's hard-wearing
2. It's waterproof
3. It looks fabulous
The beauty of patent leather is how hard wearing it is. Use it as a protective toe of heel cap on your suede or soft leather ballet flats. Add it as heel on your basic office shoes. Don’t be afraid to mix textures. Patent leather goes particularly well with hair, suede and faded soft leather. And, of course, patent all over is a real winner.
Patent leather, especially in lighter colours, is prone to scuff marks. When storing your patent shoes, separate shoe bags are a good idea. Find more information on how to care for patent leather here.
Patent black pumps are a wardrobe staple. See them here in a 3” pointed toe. They add polish to your workwear and can be worn from season to season.
For extra interest, add texture to your patent pumps. Our Mary Janes use patent black for the heel and platform against croc embossed patent leather for the the main material. The suede strap is a beautiful contrast to the sheen. Black needn’t be boring.
There are a couple deeper hues of patent leather that aren’t quite black, but definitely are quite gorgeous. Midnight blue patent leather is a versatile material. See it showcased in this 4” heel. Or go green with our olive patent leather.
Coloured shoes never looked so good. Patent leather is highly pigmented so the intensity of the colour is really impressive. See the yellow pumps with a striped cotton bow on the back for a shoe that’s traffic-stopping. The pinky-coral wedge with a peek of soft shiny gold leather is just adorable. And those ballet flats? The blue pearl snakeskin teamed with the pink patent is a surefire way to dress up jeans.
When you’re racing around town wearing your flats, it makes sense to ensure they’re hardy. Enter patent leather. It's oh-so perfect for the ballet flat. Dirt? No problem. Just wipe it off. Rain? These babies are waterproof. Practical and pretty.
